Police in Brussels on Monday evacuated hundreds from the European Union parliamentary building complex after discovering a suspicious parked car near the site.

“Bomb alert here at European Parliament in Brussels,” tweeted Irish MEP Luke “Ming” Flanagan, The Irish Independent reported. “Currently being evacuated.”

A spokeswoman for the parliament said there was no danger and that staff were already being given the OK to return to their desks. The Independent reported that bomb squads sent in a robot to investigate, but that the evacuation was simply a “precaution,” a representative for the European Parliament said.

Three Parliament buildings in total were evacuated. They were used primarily for administrative purposes.
