The Islamic State group wants to use 500,000 displaced Libyans as a “psychological weapon” against Europe.
Italy published telephone intercepts Thursday showing that the Sunni radical terror group wants to flood Europe with waves of refugees, the Daily Mail reported.
“If the militias of the caliphate advance faster than the decisions of the international community how can we put out the fire in Libya and stem the migration flows? We are at risk of an exodus without precedent,” Italian Minister for the Interior Angelino Alfano said Monday, the newspaper reported.
A recent issue of the jihadi magazine Dabiq also confirmed that the Islamic State group has its eyes on expansion into Italy.
“We will conquer your Rome, break your crosses, and enslave your women, by the permission of Allah, the Exalted. If we do not reach that time, then our children and grandchildren will reach it, and they will sell your sons as slaves at the slave market,” the Sunni radicals wrote, The Daily Beast reported Tuesday.
Roughly 170,000 migrants fled the region for Italy last year alone, the Mail reported.
