De’Von Pickett, a stage hand for rap artist Nicki Minaj and who goes by the name DayDay, was stabbed to death during an altercation in Philadelphia.
He was 29 years old, Heavy.com reported.
TMZ reported he was stabbed along with Ms. Minaj’s boyfriend, Eric Parker. Mr. Parker survived but is in critical condition, TMZ reported.
Ms. Minaj tweeted about the incident: “Two members of my team were stabbed last night in Philly. One was killed. They had only been there for two days rehearsing for the tour.”
She also tweeted with a photo of Mr. Parker and DayDay: “These guys flew into Philly for my tour rehearsals … and were both stabbed. … #RIPDAYDAY condolences to your family. Unbelievable. … Another senseless act of violence that took the life of a great guy. So said.
TMZ also reported the stabbing occurred at the Che Bar & Grill, and the suspect fled.
