Retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson has tapped Mike Murray, president and CEO of media firm TMA Direct, to serve as a senior adviser for a would-be presidential campaign in 2016.

Mr. Murray has worked with Mr. Carson on an anti-Obamacare “Save Our Healthcare” project as part of the Murray-founded American Legacy political action committee, and would oversee small-dollar grassroots fundraising for the campaign.

Mr. Carson has been busy laying the groundwork for a potential run, and is running near the top of the pack in some of the early polling on the 2016 GOP presidential field. The latest RealClearPolitics average has him fourth at about 9 percent, behind former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush at 14.2 percent, former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee at 11.2 percent and Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky at 9.6 percent.
