Iraq’s ambassador to the United Nations is accusing the Islamic State of selling the organs of captives to fund its terror activities and has asked the U.N. Security Council to investigate.
“We have bodies. Come and examine them,” said Ambassador Mohamed Alhakim to reporters, The Associated Press reported. “It is clear they are missing certain parts.”
He said that officials have found several bodies in shallow graves in recent weeks, with missing kidneys and other organs. He also said that at least a dozen doctors have reportedly been executed for refusing to take part in the harvesting, AP reported.
Mr. Alhakim has asked the Security Council to launch an investigation.
