A Minnesota newspaper that slammed President Obama with an expletive for shooting a self-mocking video to promote Obamacare — and using a “selfie stick” to encourage enrollments — has now backtracked, admitting it went too far.

Kevin Cusick, sports producer for the St. Paul Pioneer Press, sparked the controversy Monday in an online photo slideshow when he captioned a shot of Mr. Obama using his selfie stick as “a fool-proof way to make yourself look like a self-absorbed [expletive].”

Mr. Cusick, after receiving numerous complaints about the reference, conceded it was a “poor choice of word.”

“I must have been in an especially foul mood last night. I’ve toned it down a bit,” he told the local Fox News affiliate.

He’s since changed the caption — but not the tone. The new version: “A fool-proof way to make yourself look like a self-absorbed celebrity.”
