Glenn Beck, a favorite of the tea party movement, warned fans and followers that the beheading of the 21 Coptic Christians by Islamic State terrorists was just the biblical “beginnings of sorrows” and that the solution to the coming troubles was to adopt a “humble” attitude and turn back to God.
“These are the birth pangs of things yet to come,” he wrote on GlennBeck.com. “These are the beginnings of sorrows. … We must humble ourselves and turn our face to God.”
He also said that the rise of the Caliphate, the collapse of Libya and Egypt governments and the rise of the Muslim Brotherhood, and the recent targeting of Jews in Europe “could have been avoided if we weren’t so arrogant,” he wrote.
“Evil does exist. It has a name and it is ISIS and radical Islam,” he wrote. “Let us be willing to live and die to free our brothers and sisters of all nationalities and religions from the terror of the beasts that have grown in the shadows of ignorance and hate.”
Mr. Beck said he’s recently listened to Winston Churchill speeches in the lead-up to World War II and found startling similarities.
“Most wanted to appease in late 1940 just as they do now,” he wrote, suggesting that another global war was in the works. “No one wanted to call Hitler evil. … [But] there are times when a civilized world must stand for what is right. Now is one of those times.”
