Sen. Rand Paul wished Hillary Rodham Clinton a happy Valentine’s Day on Saturday by tweeting a parody Pinterest page dedicated to lampooning the potential Democratic presidential candidate.
“If Hillary Clinton set up a Pinterest for Valentine’s Day, we can only imagine it might look like this,” the Kentucky Republican tweeted Saturday morning, receiving 144 retweets.
The tweet linked users to a fake Pinterest board full of GOP talking points against the former secretary of state, including jabs about Benghazi, “Hillarycare” and being “dead broke.”
Pinterest is a social media hobby website that serves as a virtual corkboard, allowing users to “pin” images to an online profile and use those images to network with others based on similar interests.
The parody page, which uses the same profile image as Ms. Clinton’s verified Twitter account, features photos of the former first lady in close contact with controversial leaders overseas, as well as buddying up with President Obama. One bright pink Valentine covered in hearts reads, “I’ve Benghazing at you!”
One meme shows Ms. Clinton giving a speech with the words “Hour speech, $200,000 price tag” emblazoned across the photo, with the caption: “#WorkingHard but somehow dead broke! ;(“
This isn’t the first time Mr. Paul has used social media to attack Ms. Clinton. After November’s midterm elections, he sent out a series of tweets with the hashtag #HillarysLosers and showed pictures of the former first lady appearing with losing Democratic Senate candidates, MSNBC reported.
