Suspended NBC news anchor Brian Williams is under further scrutiny after multiple news outlets started looking into his claims regarding SEAL Team 6.

A conservative blogger known as SooperMexican posted audio this week of Mr. Williams telling “The Dan Patrick Show” about a helicopter piece from the Osama bin Laden raid that was given to him. Afterwards, The Huffington Post, CNN, and Hotair looked into the claim, along with another told to David Letterman about flying into Baghdad with SEAL Team 6.

A Special Operations Command official told CNN Thursday that the bin Laden raid memorabilia story “doesn’t pass any sniff test.”

“We do not embed journalists with any elements of that unit. … Bottom line — no,” the official said of the possibility that Mr. Williams flew in a helicopter with SEAL Team 6.

Brandon Webb, a writer and former SEAL sniper who helped train Chris Kyle, told The Huffington Post that he didn’t believe the story, either.

“My initial reaction is it sounds completely preposterous. There’s a healthy dislike towards embedded journalists within the SEAL community. I can’t even remember an embed with a SEAL unit. And especially at SEAL Team Six? Those guys don’t take journalists with them on missions,” Mr. Webb told the website said.
