Americans don’t buy claim of improved economy; still in recession, 65% say

By and large, Americans believe the nation is still struggling economically, though the White House and federal statistics say otherwise.

A Fox News telephone poll of 1,044 registered voters conducted Feb. 8-10 showed that 65 percent in America see the nation as still in a recession.

Only about half, 49 percent, say they are “just able to pay most bills,” the survey found. And fully 18 percent are outright “falling behind” on debt.

Thirty-one percent, however, reported their households were experiencing better financial times.

Fifty-six percent say the government should cut back on taxes, spending and regulations. Another 40 percent say better prioritization of domestic spending could help what ails the U.S. economy, too.
