Serial killer Charles Manson, 80, won’t be marrying his 27-year-old girlfriend Afton Elaine Burton after all.

Ms. Burton, it appears, only wanted to take possession of Manson’s body when he died to display it as a money-making tourist attraction in a glass case in Los Angeles, similar to that of North Korea’s former despot, Kim Jong-il, or Lenin’s Mausoleum in Moscow, The Independent reported.

So Manson called the whole thing off, the newspaper said.

“He’s finally realized that he’s been played for a fool,” said Daniel Simone, a journalist covering Ms. Burton’s money-making scheme, the New York Post reported.

On top of that, Manson already thinks he’s immortal — so the whole display-the-body idea was doubly ridiculous to him, Mr. Simone said.

“He feels he will never die,” he said, The Independent reported. “Therefore, he feels it’s a stupid idea to begin with.”

The marriage license for the happy couple expired just a few days ago, The Independent reported.
