Brown family slams ‘false reports’ surrounding Bobbi Kristina’s health

The family of Bobbi Kristina Brown, daughter of Bobby Brown and Whitney Houston, slammed “false reports” by media outlets that claimed the 21-year-old would be taken off life support on Wednesday, the third anniversary of her mother’s death.

“The false reports that continue to appear in print and on the Internet are egregious, false and will be dealt with at an appropriate time,” said Christopher Brown, Bobby Brown’s lawyer, in a statement. “In particular, the false reporting of TMZ, The National Enquirer, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution and the (British) Daily Mail, citing police sources, family sources and Bobby Brown himself, will receive my attention.

“The desire to be ’first’ has clouded the judgment of many reporters as they forgo accuracy,” the statement said, USA Today reported.

Bobbi Kristina has been in a coma for the last 10 days in an Atlanta hospital after being found face down and unresponsive in a bathtub at her home near Roswell, Georgia, on Jan. 31. Her mother was found dead in a similar manner on February 11, 2012. The coroner’s report determined Houston accidentally drowned in the bathtub, with heart disease and cocaine use listed as contributing factors.

Roswell police are investigating whether foul play was involved in Bobbi Kristina’s incident, but have refused to comment in public about what they’ve learned so far, USA Today reported.

“This is a criminal investigation, and the integrity of that process requires silence,” Christopher Brown said in the statement.

Members of the Brown and Houston family have gathered in Atlanta to maintain a vigil at Bobbi Kristina’s bedside, refusing to discuss her condition or their plans with the media, USA Today reported.

“Privacy is requested in this matter,” Bobby Brown said in a statement on Feb. 1. “Please allow for my family to deal with this matter and give my daughter the love and support she needs at this time.”
