New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick reportedly wore a bright red T-shirt emblazoned with the words “Don’t Tread on Me” to the Super Bowl in Glendale, Arizona, on Sunday.
“Don’t Tread on Me” is a motto written on the Gadsden flag — designed in 1775 during the American Revolution — and has been adopted in modern times by the tea party.
A photo of the back of Mr. Belichick’s shirt, which showed an American flag and the iconic Gadsden flag rattlesnake, went viral on Twitter.
The Patriots take on the Seattle Seahawks Sunday night at 6:30 EST.
