Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump said there will “certainly” be exceptions to his proposal to ban Muslims from traveling to the United States to accommodate people like athletes and world leaders.

“There’s certainly going to be exceptions made,” Mr. Trump said on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe.” “Like, for instance, sporting events and other things. Hopefully, this wouldn’t take very long.”

Mr. Trump has called for a ban on Muslims entering the United States “until our country’s representatives can figure out what is going on.” He said on ABC’s “Good Morning America” that U.S. citizens who are Muslim would be allowed to leave and re-enter the country.

He also said on MSNBC that he would “of course” waive the ban for leaders of countries in the Middle East.
