LANDOVER — Washington Redskins inside linebacker Keenan Robinson is active for Monday’s game against the Dallas Cowboys after missing the last three games with a variety of shoulder injuries.
Robinson was limited in practice all week so it is uncertain how much he will actually play. On Saturday, coach Jay Gruden said that veteran Mason Foster will start against Dallas, along with Will Compton. The Redskins are shorthanded at inside linebacker after Perry Riley broke a bone in his right foot in Thursday’s practice. Riley, who is inactive, is expected to be out three to six weeks.
Foster signed with the Redskins on Sept. 29 after he was released by the Chicago Bears at the end of the preseason. He’s started 54 games in four seasons with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and recorded 343 tackles.
“He’s a pro,” defensive coordinator Joe Barry said last week. “I think that’s the thing that I’ve been most impressed with him the five, six, seven weeks or however long he’s been here. He came in and went right to work…We’ll let him go and he’ll do a great job.”
Redskins tight end Derek Carrier is also inactive because of a high left ankle sprain and Achilles’ sprain. The Redskins will likely turn to offensive tackles Tom Compton and Ty Nsekhe to help replace Carrier, who serves mostly as a run blocker in two-tight end sets.
The other inactive players are quarterback Robert Griffin III, wide receiver Andre Roberts, defensive end Frank Kearse, left guard Arie Kouandjio and cornerback Deshazor Everett.
