Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton leads a handful of 2016 GOP presidential contenders by anywhere from 1 point to 11 points, with retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson and Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida coming the closest to her, according to a new poll.
Mrs. Clinton leads Mr. Carson by 1 point, 48 percent to 47 percent, and she leads Mr. Rubio by 3 points, 48 percent to 45 percent, according to the national MSNBC/Telemundo/Marist poll out Monday.
Mrs. Clinton leads former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush by 4 points, 49 percent to 45 percent, she leads Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas by 7 points, 51 percent to 44 percent, and she leads GOP front-runner Donald Trump by 11 points, 52 percent to 41 percent.
The survey also showed Mrs. Clinton had big advantages among Latino voters in every match-up. Mr. Rubio was the closest, trailing her by a 19-point, 57 percent to 38 percent margin among Latino voters.
She had 26-point, 61 percent to 35 percent leads among Latinos over both Mr. Carson and Mr. Bush. She led Mr. Cruz by 27 points, 61 percent to 34 percent, and she led Mr. Trump by 42 points, 69 percent to 27 percent.
Among all voters, a generic Democratic candidate was tied with a generic Republican at 45 percent apiece. And a generic Democrat led a generic Republican among Latinos by 20 points, 56 percent to 36 percent.
The GOP is grappling with how to improve their numbers with Hispanic voters in 2016 after Latino voters broke about 71 percent to 27 percent for President Obama in 2012 over GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney.
