Former President Bill Clinton will hit the campaign trail for his wife, Hillary, and host a series of “grassroots organizing events” in New Hampshire on Jan. 4, the Hillary Clinton campaign announced Monday.
Mr. Clinton will appear at an event in Nashua the morning of Jan. 4, and another event in Exeter later in the day. His campaign stops will come about a month before New Hampshire voters head to the polls for the Democratic and Republican presidential primary elections.
“President Clinton knows that the stakes are higher than ever this election year. He knows the people of New Hampshire want a president who will create shared prosperity, so that everyone has a chance at a brighter future,” the Clinton campaign said in a press release announcing the appearances. “And, he knows Hillary Clinton is prepared to do that job.”
The announcement comes as Mrs. Clinton is embroiled in a public feud with Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump, and Mr. Clinton has found himself caught up in the dispute.
Mr. Trump, among other things, has accused Mr. Clinton of having a “penchant for sexism” — a reference to his admitted affairs.
The ordeal began after Mr. Trump said Mrs. Clinton got “schlonged” in the 2008 primary election, a comment which sparked accusations of sexism against the Republican real-estate mogul.
