ASHBURN — Washington Redskins free safety Dashon Goldson did not practice on Wednesday after fracturing a rib in last Sunday’s win against the Buffalo Bills.
Goldson, who has played 98 percent of the team’s defensive snaps this season, is also battling shoulder and knee injuries.
“Dashon Goldson is a little beat up,” coach Jay Gruden said on Wednesday. “There’s a level of concern there, but, you know, with the injuries that he has, I think with another good day of rest tomorrow — maybe get him some limited work in individual [drills] — I think he’ll be feeling better.”
Inside linebacker Perry Riley, defensive end Jason Hatcher, and wide receiver DeSean Jackson also did not participate. Riley has missed the last three games after having surgery on a broken bone in his foot. Hatcher is dealing with a pinched nerve, but played an increased role last Sunday.
Jackson bruised his knee two weeks ago against the Chicago Bears and landed on the same knee at one point on Sunday. The wide receiver also was listed with a foot injury on the practice report.
“He’s still sore from the previous game,” Gruden said. “He wasn’t quite 100 percent, I guess. He’s still a little sore, a little beat up this day and age. Maybe it was a veteran day, but he is a little sore.”

Though Jackson did not practice, it’s highly unlikely he misses Saturday’s game against the Philadelphia Eagles, his former team, with a chance to clinch the NFC East at stake.
“I didn’t even notice he wasn’t practicing today,” defensive back DeAngelo Hall said. “I said, ’I don’t if he’s practicing, but he’s going to play Saturday without a doubt.’ I know he’s jacked up and ready to roll.”
Center Josh LeRibeus and right tackle Morgan Moses both have sprained ankles and were limited on Wednesday. Gruden said they were “hobbled,” but that “with time, those ankles will get better.”
Wide receiver Ryan Grant (abdomen), running back Matt Jones (hip) and outside linebacker Ryan Kerrigan (toe) were also limited. Inside linebacker Will Compton (neck), nose tackle Kedric Golston (calf), inside linebacker Keenan Robinson (shoulder), running back Chris Thompson (shoulder), strong safety Jeron Johnson (hamstring), tight end Jordan Reed (shoulder) and defensive end Frank Kearse (finger) were all full participants.
Center Kory Lichtensteiger also returned to practice for the first time since he was placed on injured reserve with a designation to return on Nov. 10. Lichtensteiger has a disc-related injury that weakened his left shoulder. Lichtensteiger is eligible to practice after six weeks on IR and cannot play until after eight weeks, which would allow him to return if the Redskins make the playoffs.
Currently, Lichtensteiger does not count against the active roster.
“Shoulder feels good, strength feels good,” Lichtensteiger said. “I feel fortunate honestly this late in December to feel this great. If we make the playoffs, I’m good to go, but I don’t know how they’ll plan on using me.”
