Sen. Bernard Sanders of Vermont on Tuesday ribbed Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump and said former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton wasn’t the only one who took a trip to the bathroom during Saturday’s Democratic debate.

Donald Trump “has discovered that women go to the bathroom, and it’s very upsetting for him,” Mr. Sanders told a crowd of college students in Iowa, according to Buzzfeed.

Mrs. Clinton, the 2016 Democratic front-runner, returned late from a break at Saturday’s debate, which included fellow 2016 Democratic presidential candidates Mr. Sanders and former Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley.

On Monday evening at a rally in Michigan, Mr. Trump said: “I know where she went.”

“It’s disgusting. I don’t want to talk about it. No, it’s too disgusting. … We want to be very, very straight-up, OK?” Mr. Trump said.

Mr. Sanders said Mr. Trump “must have a very unusual relationship with women.”

“I also went to the bathroom,” the senator said. “I’ve got to admit it.”
