Former Virginia Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli endorsed Sen. Ted Cruz’s presidential bid Friday at an appearance in Mechanicsville, Virginia, praising the Texas GOP hopeful as someone who will respect rights and bring the deficit under control.
Mr. Cuccinelli said Mr. Cruz’s penchant for irking his own party leaders is reason alone for conservatives to choose him.
“Senator Ted Cruz stands alone,” said Mr. Cuccinelli, who lost his 2013 bid for governor and is now president of the Senate Conservatives Fund.
