Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump said this week that he’s been a “little bit divisive” and that he’d like to see the Republican party come together.
“I would like to see the Republican party come together, and I’ve been a little bit divisive in the sense that I’ve been hitting people pretty hard,” Mr. Trump said during an appearance on “Jimmy Kimmel Live.”
“And ultimately, you know, we have to come together and get this thing done, and I’m having a great time,” he said.
Asked if he thinks Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas, one of his 2016 GOP rivals, is scared of him, Mr. Trump said: “No, I don’t think so.”
Asked if he thinks former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, another rival, wants to run for president, Mr. Trump said no.
“He was a happy warrior, but he’s never been a happy warrior, and he’s having a hard time running,” Mr. Trump said. “He was supposed to be — because of the name, everyone thought he was — the odds-on favorite.”
“And I defined him. I gave him this term, ’low energy,’ ” he said. “I said he’s a low-energy individual. We do not need, in this country, low energy. Do you agree with that? We need high energy.”
“But honestly, I think Jeb’s a nice person,” Mr. Trump said. “I don’t know if he’s enjoying it or not, but I think he’s a nice person.”
