When Donald Trump was asked about his Twitter feed and its frequent references to women as “fat pigs” or “slobs,” he dismissed moderator Megyn Kelly’s query as mere political correctness and won big applause for saying it was only leftist comedian Rosie O’Donnell.

Ms. Kelly tartly noted that the comments went “well beyond” her, prompting The Donald to threaten the Fox News host.

“I could be not-nice to you based on the way you’ve treated me,” Mr. Trump said, claiming that his Twitter feed is meant to be “fun,” “kidding” and “a good time.”

A number of pro-life and conservative women were not amused by such flipness toward a lack of chivalry and said so on Twitter.

“Trump: it is not funny to demean women or anyone,” said Marjorie Dannenfelser, president of Susan B. Anthony List.

Lila Rose, the president of Live Action, said she was “baffled at why people are clapping for @realDonaldTrump as he makes denigrating comments about women’s appearances as a candidate for” president.

“Sorry, @realDonaldTrump, sexist comments aren’t leadership,” continued Miss Rose, whose group several years began the practice of embarrassing Planned Parenthood and other abortion providers with secrets tapes and videos.

Amanda Carpenter, a former communications director to rival Ted Cruz, cheered Ms. Kelly’s question, tweeting out in all-capital letter “thank you for calling Trump on his anti-woman rhetoric, Megyn!”

“Jesus. Calling women fat pigs isn’t a PC thing. It’s a basic matter of respect,” Ms. Carpenter tweeted, going on to say “if the best thing that comes out of this debate is that Trump is fully exposed as a jerk to women, I’ll be totally happy.”

In a post-debate discussion, Ms. Kelly herself doubled down on her question, cautioning a male defending the O’Donnell zinger — Fox analyst Chris Stirewalt — that however unpopular Ms. O’Donnell may be among conservatives, “I’m telling you, women don’t like that” kind of talk.
