Michael Moore revealed Thursday his latest project: a documentary called “Where to Invade Next,” which takes on what he calls the nation’s “military-industrial complex” and American interventionism.

The controversial filmmaker described the new flick, his first in six years, in a Periscope broadcast, saying it was a “film of epic nature,” The Guardian reported.

The film will premiere on opening night of the Toronto International Film Festival, which takes place Sept. 10-20.

Mr. Moore said the documentary will focus on the United States’ continued search for enemies to benefit the military-industrial complex.

“The issue of the United States at infinite war is something that has concerned me for quite some time, and provides the necessary satire for this film,” Mr. Moore said, The Guardian reported.

“[There’s] this constant need it seems to always have an enemy — where’s the next enemy so we can keep this whole military industrial complex alive, and keep the companies that make a lot of money from this in business. I’ve always been a little bothered by that, so that’s where the comedy comes from,” he said.

Mr. Moore has been working on the film in secret since 2009.

This is not the first time Mr. Moore has taken aim at U.S. military and foreign affairs onscreen. His 2004 film “Fahrenheit 9/11” critiqued the Bush administration’s “war on terror” and aimed to depict various dictatorships that have been kept afloat by the U.S. to benefit American interests.
