Washington Redskins wide receiver DeSean Jackson sprained the AC joint in his right shoulder on Thursday and will miss one to two weeks, coach Jay Gruden said.
“[It’s] unfortunate I have to deal with this right now,” Jackson said. “I’m going to be in the training room and doing everything I need to do to better my shoulder and get it right so I’ll be ready.”
Jackson dove for a pass during a morning practice with the Houston Texans and landed on his shoulder. His momentum carried him into a blocking sled beyond the corner of the end zone which, Gruden said, did not cause “any injury,” quelling earlier reports that said otherwise.
Last season, Jackson sprained the AC joint of his left shoulder in Week 2. He did not miss any time. In fact, he had 11 catches for 117 yards the following week against his former team, the Philadelphia Eagles.
“It’s not as bad as the one from last year,” Jackson said. “It was just hard to do certain movements and things like that. I just need to strengthen it back up.”
