RICHMOND — David Amerson expects the soreness in his left shoulder to linger for quite some time after he sprained the acromioclavicular joint in the Washington Redskins’ afternoon training camp practice on Monday.

Amerson watched the rest of his teammates partake in the team’s walkthrough Wednesday morning following the first day off of training camp. He took a hard fall and landed on the shoulder while trying to break up a pass intended for DeSean Jackson during team drills late in the session.

“I had seen on film that I was trying to reach for the ball, and I came down in an awkward position on it,” Amerson said.

“When it first happened, my adrenaline was pumping. When all that calmed down, that night, it was pretty bad.”

Amerson is the third Redskins cornerback to sustain an injury in the first week of practice, with Bashaud Breeland spraining the MCL in his right knee and rookie Tevin Mitchel tearing the labrum in one of his shoulders, believed to be his right, on Saturday.

“It’s going to take a little minute for it to get 100 [percent healthy],” Amerson said. “It’s football. I’ll be all right.”
