INDIANAPOLIS — Former Indianapolis Colts linebacker Josh McNary is set to stand trial for rape.
The Indianapolis Star and WISH-TV reported that the trial of the 27-year-old McNary, who played in 20 games over two seasons with the team, is scheduled to begin Monday in Indianapolis. He’s is charged with rape, criminal confinement and battery in an attack on a woman in December.
Court records say the woman met her attacker at a bar and went back to an apartment where she says he raped her. According to the newspaper, she grabbed a cellphone as she left the apartment and police traced the phone to McNary.
McNary has pleaded not guilty.
He was arrested in January and placed on a list by the Colts that made him ineligible for practice or games. The newspaper reports that his contract expired in March.
