Former Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley went after GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump on Tuesday, saying he doesn’t find anything “tough” about Mr. Trump “at all.”

“Look, if Donald Trump is such a big, tough guy, why … is it that he takes on minimum-wage workers? Why is it that he prevents minimum-wage workers from even having labor unions? Why is it that he says such denigrating things about new American immigrants and about women?” Mr. O’Malley, a 2016 Democratic presidential candidate, said on MSNBC’s “The Rundown with Jose Diaz-Balart.”

“I don’t find anything tough about Donald Trump at all,” Mr. O’Malley said. “In fact, my parents taught us that this is not strength. This is weakness when you attack and you scapegoat other people and talk less of other human beings as he has done in such hate-filled ways.”

Mr. Trump had gone after Mr. O’Malley recently; the former governor apologized after he was interrupted by protesters when he said “all lives matter” at the Netroots Nation gathering of activists in Phoenix last month.

Demonstrators interrupted Mr. O’Malley by shouting, “Black lives matter!” to which Mr. O’Malley replied: “Black lives matter. White lives matter. All lives matter,” according to CNN.

Mr. O’Malley later said in an interview on “This Week in Blackness,” a digital show, that it was a mistake on his part and he meant no disrespect.

Mr. Trump said in a recent interview with Fox News’ Jeanine Pirro that Mr. O’Malley apologized “like a little baby.”

“Like a disgusting, little, weak, pathetic baby,” Mr. Trump said. “When I watched him apologize and then he had a news conference in front of my building in Las Vegas ’cause he thought he was [going to] get publicity, it was actually just a good [ad] for me. But when I [watch] that whole thing going on and how they’re pandering, I think it’s a disgrace.”
