Republican presidential candidate Sen. Lindsey Graham on Tuesday blasted rival Donald Trump’s immigration proposal as stupid, impractical, and “constitutionally flawed.”
“Donald Trump’s plan on immigration is stupid. It’s illegal,” the South Carolina senator said on Fox News’ “Fox & Friends,” Politico reported.
Mr. Trump’s immigration plan proposes building a wall on the southern border to be paid for by Mexico, defunding “sanctuary cities” and the “mandatory return of all criminal aliens” to their home countries.
Mr. Graham argued that if you try to deport American-born children of immigrants who came to the country illegally, “you’ll get creamed in court.”
“Most Hispanics find him offensive. I find him offensive,” he said of Mr. Trump. “His solution is just constitutionally flawed. It’s not practical.”
Mr. Graham also took aim at Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus, who said over the weekend said that Mr. Trump is a “net positive” for the GOP, Politico reported.
“I think that’s dumb, too,” Mr. Graham said.
