Billionaire businessman Donald Trump welcomed Fox News host Megyn Kelly back from a vacation by saying he preferred her show without her and sharing a post on social media that referred to Ms. Kelly as a “bimbo.”

“I liked The Kelly File much better without @megynkelly. Perhaps she could take another eleven day unscheduled vacation!” Mr. Trump, a 2016 GOP presidential candidate, tweeted Monday evening.

“.@megynkelly must have had a terrible vacation, she is really off her game. Was afraid to confront Dr. Cornel West. No clue on immigration!” he also tweeted.

Mr. Trump also shared a tweet from another user still visible on Mr. Trump’s timeline: “The bimbo back in town. I hope not for long .”

Mr. Trump had been upset with the line of questioning he received at the first GOP debate, held Aug. 6 and hosted by Fox News.

Ms. Kelly had asked Mr. Trump whether a host of derogatory terms about women attributed to him was presidential. After the debate, Mr. Trump said on CNN of Ms. Kelly: “You could see there was blood coming out of her eyes, blood coming out of her wherever.”

He later said only a deviant would think he was referring to Ms. Kelly’s menstrual cycle.

Mr. Trump and Fox News President Roger Ailes spoke by phone a few weeks ago, with Mr. Trump saying afterward he has no problem.

On her program earlier this month, Ms. Kelly said she isn’t going to apologize for doing good journalism.
