Senate Democratic leader Harry Reid announced on Sunday that he would support the Obamabomb deal. Since Sen. Reid’s tenure has been marked by a partisanship that routinely put the interests of President Obama ahead of those of his institution, let alone the country, his stance on the Iranian agreement is not exactly a surprise.

Ominously though, he also promised “to do everything in my power to make sure the deal stands.” What we have learned about Harry Reid over the years is that means preventing debates and Senate – and even congressional – action.

In this case, Sen. Reid may support filibustering a resolution of disapproval aimed at stopping the Obamabomb deal. Votes would be on procedural motions, not the substance, making accountability more difficult. And, of course, ensuring that Iran gets the bomb – with all the horror that portends.
