Yes, Donald Trump campaigns on a jumbo scale. The “Donald J. Trump for President Pep Rally”, scheduled in Mobile, Alabama on Friday evening, has drawn such an overwhelming response from Trump fans that it had to be moved from a sizable civic auditorium to the Ladd-Peebles Stadium, which can seat 40,000. This is likely to be one of the biggest campaign events of the season - eclipsing a recent gathering for Sen. Bernie Sanders which drew 28,000 people.
The Alabama Secretary of State’s Office says at least 35,000 people are expected based on ticket response.
The locals are getting prepared. There are extra shuttle buses ready, plus organized carpools and strong recommendations from Mobile officials to arrive two hours early. Fans are also also expected to journey to the event from South Mississippi.
“Some of them are supporting the businessman-turned candidate, others looking for Friday night entertainment and many just wanting to satisfy their curiosity about the presidential hopeful,” notes a public advisory from WALA, the local FOX News affiliate.
Mr. Trump will be back in Alabama in the near future; rivals Jeb Bush, Gov. Scott Walker, Ben Carson and Sen. Ted Cruz will also campaign in the state - where ship building, aircraft manufacturing and steel production could prove an attractive draw for the candidates.
