LANDOVER — A week after opening the preseason with a victory over the Cleveland Browns, the Washington Redskins will get back to work on Thursday when they host the Detroit Lions at FedEx Field.

Not much should change for the Redskins, with coach Jay Gruden noting earlier in the week that the starters should play approximately a quarter. Kirk Cousins is expected to replace Robert Griffin III at quarterback with the second team, though Gruden said Cousins would get less work than last week, allowing Colt McCoy to pick up some snaps.

The weather could be a factor on Thursday night. Forecasts call for thunderstorms to move into the area when the game begins, and the rain should hold steady until at least midnight. If that’s the case, the game should be over fairly quickly.
