LOS ANGELES (AP) - Bryce Harper was held out of the Washington Nationals’ lineup in their 5-0 loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers on Tuesday night as a precautionary measure.

The outfielder banged his left knee while making a sliding catch in the eighth inning of the Nationals’ 8-3 victory Monday night, but stayed in the game.

“I banged it pretty good, kind of like a bone bruise,” Harper said. “I didn’t want to slide on it again and re-enact what happened two years ago. So I was trying to be a little bit cautious. I know how I feel and what my body can handle. It’s going to take time, and then we’ll see where I’m at.”

Harper didn’t get an MRI. He said there was significant swelling.

Harper is hitting .333 with 69 RBIs and 29 home runs.
