There is something to be said about the first Republican debate hosted last week by Fox News and Facebook: Each of the candidates had a couple of strong topics he felt passionate about, but what we need is one person who is passionate about all topics that affect the American people.

The top contender, Donald Trump, needs some direction on running for office. His verbal assaults on anyone who challenged him during the debate was refreshing to a degree, but he won’t be representing all of the people all of the time if he belittles and calls them names.

President Obama has challenged all those who dare disagree with him, demonizing them for their opinions. In effect he has made it a point to divide the country. We don’t need another president who only represents those he likes.

We should remember that Mr. Trump made his fortune doing verbal battle in the private sector. In the political arena he will have to curb his assault tactics to some degree and be courteous — because people won’t understand his ’New-York-state-of-mind’ mentality, and if he keeps it up they won’t vote for him. In other words, you do indeed catch more flies with honey than with vinegar.
