Tamika Catchings scored 10 of her 20 points in the fourth quarter and the Indiana Fever beat the Washington Mystics 73-62 on Tuesday night for their fifth victory in six games since the All-Star break.
The Fever (13-9) moved into a tie for third place with the Mystics (13-9) in the Eastern Conference.
Catchings also had six rebounds to move within one of Tina Thompson (3,070) for second in WNBA history.
Ivory Latta hit a 3-pointer to pull the Mystics to 63-54 with 3:58 left. Catchings answered with a 19-foot jumper, and the Fever cruised from there to even the season series 2-2 and end the Mystics’ home winning streak at five.
Consecutive 3-pointers by Tierra Ruffin-Pratt, Tayler Hill and Latta stretched the Mystics’ lead to 29-17 with 6:20 left in the first half. Marissa Coleman made two free throws and Lynetta Kizer made back-to-back shots, sparking a 15-2 run to give the Fever a 32-31 halftime edge.
