Democratic donors, journalists, progressive activists and Hollywood elite are among the guests at the White House Tuesday night for a State Dinner honoring Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.
The guest list includes Shonda Rhimes, creator of TV shows such as “Grey’s Anatomy” and “Scandal;” George Logothetis, a shipping heir and Democratic campaign donor who has supported President Obama’s push for comprehensive immigration reform; Toyota USA CEO Jim Lentz III; James Murren, Chairman of MGM Resorts International; actor George Takei, best known to sci-fi fans as Mr. Sulu on the “Star Trek” series, and his husband, Brad; former vice president Walter Mondale; Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson; author Chamein Canton and Hiroshi Suzuki, president of eyeglass company Hoya Corp.
Among the media who will be dining at the White House are Bob Schieffer and Ellen Uchimiya of CBS News, and David Nakamura and Ellen Nakashima of the Washington Post.
The administration officials include James Clapper, director of national intelligence; U.S. ambassador to Japan Caroline Kennedy; Treasury Secretary Jack Lew and EPA administrator Gina McCarthy.
