There has been a lot of talk lately about Bruce Jenner coming out as a Republican and a Christian (“Bruce Jenner, Evolving Republican,” Web, April 27). Some say they don’t want him in our party while others welcome him. Good governance is beneficial to all groups.

Republicans know and believe that the Constitution affirms that all people are free and have equal protection under the law. Freedom is a God-given right that no man can take away (though some make every effort to try). The Democratic Party and the media that keeps them in office are complicit in regulating and limiting our freedoms so they can be in control of every aspect of our lives. The Democratic Party thrives on keeping a perpetually poor or low-income population who have become dependent on them and so keeps voting Democrat.

The Republican party embraces individual freedom — and that means for everyone. When we start making laws enforcing special protections for a particular group it stands to infringe on the freedoms of other groups, and we are faced with a question: Which group is more important and takes precedence over the other?

We have a Constitution that works. If the law is enforced, every individual is equal and free to live their lives as long as no harm is inflicted on anyone. The state of our union is a terrible mess thanks to the Democrats who continue to divide us by making social issues their top priority and activist judges who shove those social issues down our throats.

Even a transgender individual such as Bruce Jenner knows that individual freedom is found in the Republican Party.
