In “Suicide of a Superpower,” the author Patrick Buchanan writes: “When the faith dies, the culture dies, the civilization dies, the people die. This is the progression.” Mr. Buchanan later mentions that the failure of our system is caused by societal failure and adds that “our intellectual and cultural elites reject the God our parents believed in and the moral code they lived by.” These elites also include members of the executive, legislative and judicial branches of government, none of whom has at all addressed the core issue that has ailed our nation for decades. Consequently they have not been able to satisfactorily address and cure societal ills and issues.

Life in these United States is more than about the economy and jobs, more than concerns in the international arena. The well-being of the family, the building block of any society, is most vital to our country, and if it is true that a dying Christianity correlates to a dying people due to abortion, low birth rate and family disintegration, then a responsibility needs to be undertaken by the governed as well as those who govern.

Perhaps Jackie Kennedy said it best when she said, “If you bungle raising your children, I don’t think whatever else you do matters very much.”
