New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie says he plans to make an announcement in May or June on whether he’s running for president in 2016 and that he can “get another job” if people don’t like his persona.
“All fine Americans, Jimmy,” Mr. Christie told the “The Tonight Show” host Jimmy Fallon during a Wednesday appearance when asked about the 2016 field, raising his eyebrows. “If I run, oh, you’ll find out exactly what I think of ’em. That’s what you’re looking forward to.”
Mr. Fallon responded by saying that he wanted the “Hulk” to come out.
“There’s only one Chris Christie — this is it,” the governor said. “I mean, I’m not gonna be something different if I run for president.”
Mr. Christie said he hates politics where people are like “programmed robots.”
“I just [am] going to be myself. That’s it,” he said. “And if people like it, great, and if they don’t, I can get another job.”
Mr. Christie was tied for sixth with former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee in a national poll on the 2016 GOP field released Thursday by Quinnipiac University.
The New Jersey governor rolled out a plan to overhaul Social Security last week in the early presidential state of New Hampshire and is scheduled to be in Boston Thursday for a fundraiser.
