LOS ANGELES (AP) - Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson will host the Kids’ Choice Sports awards on July 16.
He takes over from Hall of Famer Michael Strahan, a former New York Giants defensive end who hosted the inaugural show last year that gathers top athletes and celebrities in a celebration of kids’ love of sports.
The show airs on Nickelodeon from UCLA’s Pauley Pavilion. It’s known for dumping gooey slime on guests.
Mr. Wilson says he had a lot of fun at last year’s show and describes himself as “a big kid at heart.”
“What an honor to be the king of slime for one crazy night,” he said in a recent statement.
Mr. Wilson has led the Seahawks to Super Bowl appearances the last two years, with Seattle winning in 2013.
