The Republican National Committee plans to launch a “Stop Hillary” campaign that aims to politically attack the former secretary of state, the clear favorite to win the 2016 Democratic nomination should she enter the race, The Washington Examiner said.
The RNC on Thursday will outline the new effort, which will include a “war room” in Washington and paid staffers in battleground states, The Examiner reported.
“Revealing Hillary Clinton’s support for failed policies simply requires us to tell the truth about her record, something her campaign would rather delete,” RNC Chairman Reince Priebus said in a statement, The Examiner reported.
Mrs. Clinton has been a favorite target of the likely 2016 GOP hopefuls, and she has recently come under intense scrutiny for her decision to use a private email account for government business.
The Washington Times reported Wednesday that a new Quinnipiac University’s Swing State Poll showed that the email saga and other controversies have hurt the former first lady’s standing in the early jockeying for position ahead of 2016.
The survey showed she lost ground in hypothetical matchups against every potential Republican rival in the bellwether states of Florida, Ohio and Pennsylvania.
The closest contests are in Florida, where former Gov. Jeb Bush tops Mrs. Clinton 45 percent to 42 percent, and in Pennsylvania, where Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky narrowly beats her 45 percent to 44 percent, the poll said.
