President Obama will host leaders of Persian Gulf nations at the White House and at Camp David next month, the White House said Friday.
Mr. Obama will meet with leaders from the Gulf Cooperation Council countries — Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates — on May 13 in Washington and then host them at Camp David on May 14.
“The gathering will be an opportunity for the leaders to discuss ways to enhance their partnership and deepen security cooperation,” the White House said.
The agenda is likely to be long, with issues such as a nuclear deal with Iran, fighting against the Islamic State in Syria and Iraq, and a Saudi air campaign backed by the U.S. against Islamist terrorists in Yemen.
