Comedian Louis C.K. told Howard Stern on Wednesday that although he never apologizes to anyone, he made an exception to his rule when he met Sarah Palin.

The former Alaska governor met the comedian while at Saturday Night Live’s recent afterparty for its 40th anniversary special.

“She says, ’Hey, I think you’re terrific. I think you’re really funny, and my nephew told me I have to say hi to you, and you’re the one guy I have to meet. Something came over me emotionally, and I said, ’Well, I owe you an apology,’ ” Louis C.K. said, Mediaite reported Wednesday.

The comedian told Howard Stern that in 2010 he was slightly intoxicated on a plane when he wrote numerous sexual and mean-spirited tweets about Mrs. Palin. After the apology, Mrs. Palin responded that he was a “vile person,” but that she would be happy to take him fishing if he came to Alaska.

“It kind of made me laugh. I said, ’Yeah, I hope I didn’t hurt your feelings, and I’m sorry,’ ” the comedian said, Mediaite reported.

“When I went to high school, there was these kind of these unattainable, athletic cheerleader-types who were like athletic and and smart and really conservative, and they looked at me like I was a piece of garbage. And they were my ultimate fantasy because they were unattainable. In a way, she’s that to me,” he added, The Blaze reported.
