Some Los Angeles Dodgers fans have learned the hard way that the seats behind home plate at the Arizona Diamondbacks’ Chase Field come with a dress code.

Stadium ushers were seen behind home plate during the ninth inning of Sunday night’s Dodgers-Diamondbacks game, apparently telling a Dodgers fan in the expensive “Batter’s Box Suite” to change his clothes or move. Moments later, he was seen changing his clothes.

“At the time of purchase, we ask that those fans sitting in the home plate box, which is visible on TV, wear either neutral colors or D-backs attire which the team will provide,” a Diamondbacks spokesperson told HardballTalk.

For his part, the fan, Mike Rodriguez, said the situation wasn’t as serious as it looked and debunked reports of the ushers or Diamondbacks owner Ken Kendrick forcing him to change.

Mr. Rodriguez, who had actually snuck into the suite, said he was jokingly told by the ushers that he could stay, provided he ditched the Dodgers attire, The Arizona Republic reported.

“They could have kicked me out, but they know me,” he told The Republic. “So they didn’t make a big deal out of it.”

A similar instance happened at Chase Field in 2013, when Mr. Kendrick forced a few Dodgers fans in the same suite to cover up their blue gear or move. One of the fans called Mr. Kendrick a “bully” at the time and told Deadspin that her 7-year-old daughter was “scared and confused” about the incident.
