Sen. John McCain last week called Secretary of State John Kerry “delusional.” The trouble is not that Mr. Kerry is misleading himself about the nature and contents of the agreement he claims to have struck with Iranian diplomats.
It’s that he’s trying to delude the rest of us.
Mr. Kerry is frantically defending Team Obama’s serial misrepresentations of what amounts to wishful U.S. thinking about agreed restrictions on Iran’s nuclear weapons program.
Now, Mr. Kerry wants Congress to allow still more negotiations he hopes will get an actual agreement and to forgo voting on its acceptability.
It would be a huge strategic error were legislators to convey to our Iranian enemies that they will go along with – and reward – such flim-flammery by giving the mullahs more time and the administration a free hand.
