President Obama’s former chief of staff says that former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton cannot run for Mr. Obama’s “third term” in 2016.

“Hillary Clinton’s challenge is going to be to come up with different plans — no doubt about it,” William Daley, who served as White House chief of staff from January 2011 to January 2012, said Monday on CNBC’s “Squawk Box.” “She can’t run as the third term of Barack Obama.”

In a video released Sunday announcing she’s running for president in 2016, Mrs. Clinton gave a nod to the notion that the economic recovery hasn’t benefitted everyone equally, saying that while Americans have fought their way back from tough economic times, “the deck is still stacked in the favor of those at the top.”

“Everyday Americans need a champion, and I want to be that champion,” she said.
