An Alaska Airlines plane bound for Los Angeles returned to Seattle for an emergency landing on Monday after a Sea-Tac Airport worker fell asleep in the cargo hold.
Flight 448 returned to the airport about 14 minutes after takeoff when the pilot heard banging coming from underneath the plane.
The plane landed safely, and the worker, an employee of Menzies Aviation, was able to walk to an ambulance under his own power.
“The ramp agent appeared okay, and was transported to the hospital as a precaution. We are actively investigating the matter,” Alaska Airlines said in a statement.
“Upon exiting, he told authorities he had fallen asleep,” the airline said on its website.
