The office of House Speaker John A. Boehner is using the likeness of Hollywood heartthrob Leonardo DiCaprio and his seminal role in the 1997 film “Titanic” to tout recently passed legislation related to Medicare reimbursement rates for doctors.

The Republican-controlled House overwhelmingly passed legislation last month to repeal a nearly two-decade-old formula limiting the growth of payments to physicians who treat Medicare patients, which Congress has tried to work around by passing short-term fixes.

“Something big happened recently,” reads an item posted to Mr. Boehner’s website titled “Titanic Entitlement Reform.” “You might even say it was something titanic.”

In 10 GIFs, including several featuring Mr. DiCaprio, Mr. Boehner’s office laments Washington’s “spending problem” and explains how today’s costs are, for example, “just the tip of the iceberg compared to what’s coming if we don’t change course.”

“There is much more to be done to fully reform and save programs like Medicare, but this breakthrough is more than just a life raft,” the item reads. “It is an important step to begin to right the ship and secure fair winds and calm seas for our children and grandchildren — the future kings and queens of the world.”
