EA Sports will be removing the virtual rendition of former Ravens running back Ray Rice from Madden NFL 15, in light of a newly released video that shows him punching his wife.

Ray Rice was fired by the Ravens on Monday and suspended indefinitely from the NFL after the Feb. 15 video showed him knocking out his then-fiancee, who has married him since, and dragging her out of a casino elevator.

“With Ray Rice’s indefinite suspension from the NFL, he will be removed from Madden NFL 15,” an EA Sports spokesperson told GameSpot. “This roster change will take place by this Friday.”

EA Sports has made similar decisions regarding controversial players. Last year, it cut former New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez from Madden NFL 25 after he was charged with murder, GameSpot reported.
