BOSTON (AP) — Federal prosecutors and lawyers for Boston Marathon bombing suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev (joh-HAHR’ tsahr-NEYE’-ehv) are feuding over the defense’s bid to move the trial outside Massachusetts.
The two sides have filed more than 100 pages of legal briefs arguing their positions for and against the move.
Prosecutors say Tsarnaev and his older brother, Tamerlan, placed two homemade bombs near the finish line of the 2013 marathon. The blasts killed three people and injured more than 260.
Tsarnaev has pleaded not guilty and faces a November trial. Tamerlan Tsarnaev died in a gun battle with police.
Tsarnaev’s lawyers have asked to move the trial to Washington, D.C. They say a survey of potential voters shows fewer people there have made up their minds on his guilt.
